Hello

My 25 years old daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer last Thursday and we are all devastated, would be really good to chat to anyone going through the same thing

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your daughter has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. It must be an incredibly difficult time for you all.

As the community is divided up into groups, I'm going to recommend a couple that you might want to join. The first is the breast cancer group, where you can ask questions and share experiences with others with a similar diagnosis to your daughter. The second is the family and friends group, which is a great place to share your worries with others who understand what it's like to have a loved one living with cancer.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your daughter's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))

Thank you so much, this is so raw for me and I am struggling with it,  am crying all the time, she is only 25 and it is not fair, i feel so helpless

  • You're more than welcome . I just wish you didn't have to deal with this.

Well done for joining and posting in the breast cancer group. It's a very friendly group and I'm sure the ladies over there will be only to willing to answer any questions you might have. In fact, I can see that you've already had a lovely reply from  and, if you haven't seen it, clicking here will take you straight there.

How you're feeling right now is perfectly normal but most people find that they feel a lot better and more able to cope once a treatment plan is in place.

Macmillan have this excellent information on your feelings when someone has cancer which you might find helpful to read through. Don't forget that you can also speak to someone on the Support Line. It's free to call and they're available from 8am to 8pm every day.

    Hello all

Thanks so much for your kind words and support

Caitlin had her big appointment  yesterday. Meeting with fertility doctor first and then oncology team. It went really well and she sounded so positive today - she is taking control

So, there is discussion regarding  the size of the tumour - some think 23mm and others 19mm which apparently makes a massive difference regarding length of time for chemo. She has MRI om saturday which will confirm - please please think 19mm for the next few days!!

    Thank you so so much
