Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your post treatment left overs as I call them.
I am only 64 and have been called old so you must look great then.
I have been on my cancer journey since 1999 and I am 4 3/4 years out from my last treatment (hit my name for my story) and cold feet, hand and leg cramps were part of life and only cleared up a few years back but good that your GP is keeping an eye on you.
The Community has many dedicated support groups but you did not say what type of cancer you had but can I direct you to our list of Cancer specific Groups and our Cancer experience groups.
These groups will help you connect with people who are or have been on the same journey and you can compare notes.
Follow the links I've created above, join the best group(s) then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.
You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can just join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk, so can I highlight the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00. This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information and Financial Support mostly open 8.00 to 8.00
All the very best.
Awe thank you for your response I appreciate it. I have now written my journey of having cancer in my profile. Is there anything else I need to do. I am trying to find my way around the site. Haven’t really done much of this before.
when you said you had the same up until a few years ago did you have any treatment for it. Did anything ease it. Or can you suggest any self help
I am pleased yours has finally settled down for you. You seem to have been on a journey for a good few years. Mine is 3 and half years. Thank you again
Hi again and well done putting your story up - this does help and give context.
You may now want to join our Vulva cancer group and introduce yourself. Each cancer has a distinct treatment journey often resulting in different reactions to treatments.
I had no treatment for the cold feet (thick woolly socks day and night) and craps. But was being seen regularly with lots of blood tests, goes with the turf for a blood cancer my team just kept an eye but were happy that it would pass and it did.
They did keep saying that it may well be down to chemo effecting my blood circulation so was advised to get more active, I did and it did help - a lot. But I did leave hospital in a wheelchair chair so my body took a lot of work to get it going again.
You may want to look at the Cancer experience groups as these cover lots of subjects and are good places to connect with people - not necessarily cancer related.
We do have our ‘expert’ so you could arch them out and ask questions at any time.
Always around to help out or just chat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
