Hi

I'm 35 years old. I'm living in uk 7 years. I have wife and 7 years old son. And Last week I been confirmed that I have leukaemia. I already starts chemotherapy. But my biggest worry is about finance now. Probably in year time I will have stay at home with no income.... and also my wife too because someone have to care about our son. My question is how much we can get  from government to pay our mortgage bills food? Can someone put some numbers for household monthly. From yours experience..... what we can expect? Hopefully my English is enough good to understand me. Regards Tomi007

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your Leukaemia diagnosis but I am pleased to say that you have found a safe place to find some support.

A cancer diagnosis indeed brings a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but I found talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helped a lot.

The Community has a few Leukaemia support groups so check out our Cancer specific Groups.

Follow the link I've created above, join the best group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can just join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Money worries are a reality so can I highlight the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00.

This service has a Financial Support and Work Guidance team to help you out so give them a phone - mostly open 8.00 to 8.00

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

I was diagnosed in 1999 with another type of blood cancer and I am doing good - blood cancer is very treatable.

    All the very best.
