I had breast cancer in 2015 diagnosed treated and I thought cancer free until now. It may be melodramatic but last week I found a lump in my armpit. It's a good size maybe 5 or 6 mm I phoned my GP and in an on line consultation he established it wasn't an infection or issues with a hair folical so referred me to the breast clinic on 28th May. I'm still waiting for an appointment and realise the current climate isn't helpful and personally I'm coping ok i still think it could be anything. However my partner isn't. With one thing and another over the 5 years with colpscopy to remove abnormal cells depression a side effect of the drugs and a colonoscopy in February this year where a 10mm sessile polyp was removed he has taken the news of the lump badly. I dont know how to support him and give him confidence that I will be ok.
I must admit while I'm ok it has shocked me a bit and will be only to happy to endure anything to establish that the lump isn't anything to worry about.
So people how do I help him
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that you have a worrying lump and that you're waiting to be seen by the breast clinic. We all know how worrying it is when you've had cancer to find something else but you've come to the right place to chat about this and to see how others helped their partners.
The community is divided up into groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
