    Morning

Sorry to read about your ovarian diagnosis and seeing you having to join us here :-/

I'm 'tagging' who is a community champ with Travel Insurance experience, hopefully she will get back to you with some advice about US travel in due course.

You can find the Travel Insurance Group here but Latchbrook will no doubt will have better insider knowledge.

There is also a very active Ovarian Group here (link) you can check out and join if you feel it would help you with advice and support through treatment from other ovarian members ?

Hope this is of some help for now, best wishes, G n' J

  • Hi and a second welcome to the online community

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you have cancer so can I second Dreamthief's suggestion of joining the travel insurance group.

To join just click on either of the links that we've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. Once there look for the thread called 'Members Stories' which you should see either to the right or bottom of your screen, depending on what device you're using. This is where you'll find the majority of recommendations from others who have successfully got travel insurance with a cancer diagnosis.

It is best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.

Make sure you have all the information to hand about your diagnosis and treatment before contacting the insurers. This is a list of things an insurance provider might want to know when you're applying for insurance. Some providers might ask for a letter from your doctor saying that you are well enough to travel. This could come from your cancer team or from your GP and it might save time if you get the letter before contacting insurance providers.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Let us know how you get on
