Hello. My Dad has recently passed away from lung cancer & we are asking for donations to Macmillan at his funeral tomorrow. Is there a way of finding out how much would have been raised?

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your dad has recently passed away. Can I offer my sincere condolences.

I don't know the answer to your question but I'm sure if you email fundraising@macmillan.org.uk they should be able to answer your question. You might like to take a look at this page which tells you the different ways money can be donated.

Within the online community there is a bereaved family and friends group where you can give and receive support from others who have lost a family member or friend to cancer.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))

Hi ,  My condolences to you for your Dad. When my mother passed away, we asked for donations instead of flowers, the funeral directors handled any donations that were given in at the funeral, people put envelopes with cash or cheques into a collection box that was set up. The funeral directors were able to tell us how much was raised. I haven’t been through a funeral during the corona virus it must be very different with the numbers allowed to attend. I was thinking that sometimes people set up just giving pages where the total is displayed after each on line donation. I was wondering how your Dad’s friends and family were donating to Macmillan, and if the support line could help with ideas if you needed them, so you could track the amounts, they are open 8am to 8pm on 0800 808 0000.

I hope tomorrow goes well for you and your family and brings some comfort through celebrating his life.
