Hi all.
I was diagnosed in March this year. I’m just waiting for my 3rd op to remove my nipple. I’ve been taking tamoxifen for just over two months. I haven’t had a alcoholic drink since then, as I read alcohol increases the estrogen in your body and as my cancer was estrogen positive, I have anxiety’s about touching it again! I’ve tried to research the effects alcohol has on tamoxifen and it’s very conflicting. Has anyone been given advice on whether it is safe to drink or if it stops the tamoxifen from doing its job effectively? I’m not thinking on going on a bender any time soon, but I’d like to enjoy a glass of wine without it sending I to a panic attack!
Many Thanks
Hi
Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join :-/
There are loads of ladies in the very active (and friendly) Breast Group here (link) who are also taking Tamoxifen or other types of oestrogen busting tablets who are sitting in their gardens enjoying the odd glass of wine or a G&T
Obviously moderation and all that, but the odd glass now and again isn't going to do any harm.
Just click on the link above and join the BC group start a new discussion copying in your text from above and you will soon get some replies and welcomes.
Lovely sunny day, so cheers G n' J
Hi
I’d be really interested in the answer to this too.
I had a mastectomy last October and radiotherapy Dec/Jan.
I started taking Tamoxifen last September but no one mentioned that alcohol should be avoided.
I do enjoy a glass or two of wine especially sitting in the garden. I’m off to do some research now.

Hi Sharon / Drivermason
By research do you mean have 2 large glasses and see it it makes you wobbly, or 'real research'
Sorry, couldn't help myself....
Thank you, I thought I had posted on the breast cancer group, I’ve done it now! xx
Methinks you know me too well.....
Or you have a spy in the camp....
I may have had a glass or two in the sun this afternoon.
And now on to my real research....
