Just noticed this my right breast yesterday and great GP immediately referred on a 2 week wait. Realise it might not be cancer but worried about it. Particularly at this time with the pandemic. Just looking to get some support from others in similar situation.

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that you have this worry at the moment but it's good that your GP has referred you immediately.

The online community is divided up into groups so as you've said that you want to talk to others who are in a similar situation, can I suggest that you post in the breast cancer group which I can see that you've already found and joined.

To get back there just click on the link I've created. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you

    Fingers crossed

    Hi

Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join but pleased you have found us.

The worst of this Covid pandemic seems to be over and the NHS is gradually getting back to near normal. The ward our daughter works on is now switching back to their normal surgeries thankfully.

At the breast clinic appointment you will be given a mammogram and then a more precise ultrasound scan. If anything looks suspicious they will take a biopsy using a hollow tissue needle. This tissue goes to the pathology lab and the results come through in around 7-10 days.

This is the time period everyone here disliked with a passion, as all the 'what if's' come out to play and it can be a very scary emotional time

A nipple that inverts when previously it was ok is a symptom, so your GP has done the right thing to get you seen within the 2 week period.

Although this isn't you and hopefully it will stay that way, there is a very active Breast Cancer Group here if you would like to chat about this to help support you during this waiting results period (scanxiety)

Hope this is of some help at a worrying time, if you have any questions or unsure about anything just holler, we're all here to help if we can.

    Take care, G n' J

Thank you so much. I have just taken a phone call from my GP with the date of my appointment at the breast clinic. I am not feeling very optimistic as the breast has changed shape as well as the inverted nipple. I really appreciate you taking the time to contact me. Take care and I will continue to check in.

    Hi

When is your appt, hope you have a short wait ?

There are two discussions in the breast group that aren't all cancer chat - You could check out the 'Walking Back To Happiness' or the 'Awake' threads which are more light hearted.

If you have a Q pop into your head or need info just start a New Discussion, you will soon get some replies Thumbsup tone1

So, my appointment is this Thursday. I have to wait in the car park to be telephoned to go in and wear a mask during the appointment. I totally understand this but it still adds stress. Luckily, my partner is driving me ( I don't drive so wonder what happens to women without a car to sit in). Fingers crossed it's fine. The nipple remains inverted .
