  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your Yolk Sac Tumour diagnosis but I do hope that you will find the support in the Community very helpful.

As this was a Bank Holliday weekend can I advise you to call your medical team this morning and explain the challenges you are facing. I am sure that when said don’t eat sugar and meat they did not say not to eat other healthy foods.

A cancer diagnosis can indeed bring a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but I found talking with people who were on the same type of journey helped a lot.

I see that you haven’t joined any of our support groups yet so can I direct you to our supportive find our Ovarian cancer group.

Posting in this group will give you the opportunity to talk with people who may know exactly what you are dealing with at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can just join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Can I also highlight our various Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00. This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.

    Morning

Sorry to see you joining us here - being diagnosed with a yolk sac tumour must have come like a bolt out of the blue :-/

These can occur at any age they mostly affect younger patients and can be found in various parts of the body, could you mention where about your is located so we can point you in the right direction for support and information ?

Must admit to not knowing very much about this but can I ask who told you not to eat meat or sugar ?  If this was medical advice fine, but there are a lot of myths regarding diet and cancer and you could be depriving yourself of calories/protein unnecessarily by listening to someone who means well but may be misleading you....

I'll keep a look out for a reply, sending good luck wishes at a scary time, G n' J
