So I found a lump middle of April got seen at the GP quite quickly and was referred to Breast Clinic. I honestly thought they would say it’s nothing and send me on my way but the consultant said I needed a mammogram and depending what that showed a ultrasound and maybe biopsy. I had the mammogram and was then sent for all other tests. Consultant then told me that they was definitely something to be concerned about.

One week later biopsy was positive with a lobular breast cancer in the left breast ER positive  and lymph nodes. I was then sent for CT scan week later MRI scan then I needed a biopsy taken from left arm as lymph nodes looking abnormal.

i have know been told I need a PET scan to check the left side more in depth

I understand that all these tests are necessary and I’m keeping upbeat but the waiting is slowly dragging me down.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I am sure that you will find the support in the Community helpful.

A cancer diagnosis can indeed bring a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but I found talking with people who were on the same type of journey helped a lot.

I see that you haven’t joined any of our support groups yet so can I direct you to our supportive Breast cancer group.

Posting in this group will give you the opportunity to talk with people who know exactly what you are dealing with at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can just join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Can I also highlight our various Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00. This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.

Hi Debs, so sorry about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast the week before lockdown. Also ER +. I’ve had surgery, but need to have a 2nd surgery in the next few weeks as there was cancer in the one lymph node that was removed. I understand how the uncertainty makes you feel, and how frightening all this is. I joined this community last night to connect with people who’ve been there and who understand. Hopefully we can all support one another and get through this. X

Thanks for the reply I have been told I will have a mastectomy of the left and I just want then to get on with it but also I do realise they need the full picture before treatment. It’s just so frustrating, every week I need another scan if some sort. #staysafe

    Hi debs,

Sorry to hear your diagnosis but rest assured you will get lots of support. Unfortunately this is so common amongst us women.

So all those tests and investigations you have had and are scheduled to have are all normal and we've all had them. Waiting on results is just desperate but TRY to stay with the programme, stay busy, and stay occupied. Hard I know. They are all done to get the best line of treatment options for YOU.

I was diagnosed mid Feb, triple negative BC, had ct scan, bone scan, and mri scan. Have 10 weeks of chemo done which I have to say had very very little effect on me thank God, maybe a little more tired than usual but that was it, seen my surgeon last week and having mastectomy next week. Hopefully no more chemo needed post op but if its needed then ill take it. Will need radiotherapy at some stage. Every test they do sickens my stomach with worry but wouldn't be normal if it didn't to some degree I suppose. We've been dealt a hard blow so we are vulnerable.

Start to get a good healthy diet going, lots of fruit, vegetables, meat, home made good food, that stood to me I think through my chemo in the current situation with covid 19, and drink lots of fluid, 1.5-2 litres a day. Stay active, get fresh air and talk to friends and family. And it ok to be frustrated/angry that this has happened to you but you must stay POSITIVE....you got this girl...Muscle
