I had a masectomy on one side on Thursday night (14th) thought so far that I was coping pretty well with the recovery. Yesterday (day 3) the pain got unbearable on my chest just above where the incision was made. Every time I move at all or my top touches that area the pain is like someone is repeatedly stabbing me and it's so bad it feels i cannot cope. The pain killers given from the hospital have made no difference whatsoever with this. Is this normal has anyone experienced this before and if so how can I ease the pain. Thanks
Hi
Sorry to see you joining us here but pleased you managed to find us.
First off maybe you should contact your breast care nurse this morning to ask for an opinion and hopefully get better pain relief arranged. This pain sounds like it could be from the healing process or nerves cut/damaged during surgery; if so this will gradually heal and the pain ease off, but I'm not medically trained so this is all guesswork.
There is a Breast Surgery discussion here in the Breast Group (just click the join this group button under the breast group title) you could check out and post a reply asking about this. The discussion runs to around 18 pages so may well have some info from others who have had breast pain post surgery.
No one would want you to suffer in silence so see what your BCN has to say ?
Hope this is of some help for now, take care, G n' J
