I’m looking for advice. My husband was diagnosed with GBM on 20th Dec after rapidly loosing the use of his right arm first then his right leg in the space of 10 days. Unfortunately due to the position of the tumours they were unable to operate or treat so he was given weeks to months. Luckily he plateaued out for a while so he’s still with us but recently he has started to find it hard to get his words out. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what to expect as his condition progresses. It doesn’t help that he has autism and has started having temper tantrums and currently he’s refusing food, drink and meds. Help???
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your husband and the challenges you are all facing.
A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but I found talking with people who were on the same type of journey helped a lot. I have no first hand experience in what you are dealing with but can I direct you to our supportive Glioblastoma multiforme
Posting in this group will give you the opportunity to talk with other people who know exactly what you are all dealing with at the moment.
Follow the link I've created, join the group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.
You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can just join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
I see you have found our Carers only group and can I also highlight our Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.
Can I also highlight our various Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00. This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.
All the very best.
Hi Mike
Thank you for your reply. I have joined the groups you suggested. Thanks so much for your help.
