This is my first post on here.

The last 4 weeks have seen colonoscopy, mri,ct, and a diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer which has multiple metastases in liver and lungs. I feel my life has been torn apart. I am coming to terms with the fact that the outlook is poor, but will go through treatment with optimism.(radiotherapy this week, and chemo starting after that)

I know many people have been in similar situations, and I guess I’m hoping this community will provide some wisdom on how to cope.

The MacMillan nurses have been brilliant so far - so calm, knowledgable and reassuring .

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your bowel cancer diagnosis.

I am pleased you found the support of your Macmillan Nurses so helpful and I am sure that you will find the Online Community will bring another dimension to support during this time.

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of confusion, stress and many many questions but talking with people who are on the same type of journey can help a lot so can I direct you to our very supportive Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer group.

Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are dealing with at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can also join in with existing ‘discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Can I also highly recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Click here to see how to add details to your profile. It helps everyone to see a little about you and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username but my journey was rather complicated.

    All the very best.
