I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with cervical cancer at the age of 37. I'm told I need a full hysterectomy. The thing is I'm a big girl and have been told the instruments used are too small and they havSobe referred me to bariactic surgery before being able to do the hysterectomy. Now I'm terrified that with the covid issues and hospitals on a limited scale and by the time the weight loss surgery is complete the cancer will have gotten worse. Also am I strange as I haven't cried about having the big C yet? My wife and family all have yet I haven't. I have bipolar and struggle a lot with suicidal thSobghts etc, on a good day I'm ready to fight this and on a bad day I think about not having any treatment and hoping it kills me selfish I know you will think.. I just don't know where to turn or who Sob talk to. Can't get an apt with a GP for over 10days to talk with as it's not classed as an emergency or important. SobSob

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, this must have been such a shock.

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of confusion, stress and many many questions but talking with people who are on the same type of cancer journey as you can help a lot so can I direct you to our very supportive Cervical cancer group

Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can also join in with existing ‘discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Can I also highly recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 9.00 to 5.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Click here to see how to add details to your profile. It helps everyone to see a little about you and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username but my journey was rather complicated.
