Recently diagnosed with Essential thrombocythemia on 02 March and I have got my next appointment on 27/05 after last was cancelled due to coronovirus.

Awaiting for my Bone marrow biopsy and I am on aspirin a day and going to be put on cytoreductive medication after my Bone marrow biopsy and I have also lost my job after the diagnosis as my psv and car licence has been taken away by DVLA.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your ET diagnosis and the results with regards to your job,

A blood cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of confusion, stress and many many questions.

I was diagnosed in 1999 with a rare Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. ET is on the rare side so there is no specific group as yet, but we are seeing an increasing number of people come on the site with ET.

You can put Essential thrombocythemia in the search tool and look at the posts and you will see most are in our Other cancers and Stem cell transplants for blood cancers groups.

Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who may know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can also join in with existing ‘discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Can I also highly recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 9.00 to 5.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment

When you feel up to it, it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username but my journey was rather complicated.

Keep posting as we are around to help as best as we can.
