Hi there iam new here and just been diagnosed with a Superficial spreading malignant melanoma with a Breslow thickness 0.6 no ulceration and mitotic rate 3 and been told it is invasive. Iam a bit hesitant to try and claim on my insurance as I've read through my policy and doesn't really make much sense to me I was hoping some one on here had experienced the same as me and just give me some light hope every one is doing the best they can at this hard time thankyou for your time to read :)

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I was diagnosed with melanoma nearly 4 years ago now but didn't have critical illness cover so can't help with your question.

Can I recommend that you join and post this question in the melanoma group as I'm sure there'll be others who have claimed and they can tell you about their experiences.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi there latchbrook thankyou for taking the time to reply to my message and I have now joined and put it in the melanoma group and also done a little on my profile not to good at that sort of stuff but gave it a go :) and like I say just like to thankyou again

  • You're welcome Slight smile

I can see that you've posted in the melanoma group but probably the best way to find out if your policy will pay out is to phone them and ask if malignant melanoma is included in their list of cancers that are covered.

Thanks for adding information to your profile. You can add or amend it at any time to reflect what's happening to you.
