Hi Folks!

New here, Diagnosed on 26/03/2020 with Rectal Adenocarcinoma (T4 N2b MX) with a possibility of Liver & Lung metastasis.  Cancer also locally advanced with involvement of seminal vesicles anteriorly.

Any idea of which support group I should join.

Keep safe & well and many thanks

Mark

  • Hi Mark  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see folks finding us and so sorry to hear about your diagnosis - this must have been a big shock to you.

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and many questions but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot so can I highlight our very supportive Bowel (colon and rectum) cancerLiver, secondary cancer and Lung, secondary cancer groups as a starting point.

Posting in these groups will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Follow the links I've created, join the groups, then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can also join in with existing ‘discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

Can I also highly recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 9.00 to 5.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

When you feel up to it, it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username but my journey was rather complicated.

    All the very best.

    Hi Mike

Many thanks for your reply and suggestions on which community groups I should join.

I've already added info into my journey so far section on my profile.  - Have I added too much detail in there or does it look ok?

Many Thanks again, keep safe & well

    All the best

    Mark

  • Well done Mark - my profile is like War and Peace but I have 20 years to cover.

All the best with your journey Mark.
