Hi everyone
1st time on a forum.
Took my mum to the gp the other week as she had lost so much weight so quick. Also has a cough which she has had for maybe a year and was just given inhalers as said at the time it wasn't nothing to worry about.
GP very good and got everything moving even thou it was the same time the coronavirus was heading for the lockdown.
My mum had numerous blood tests, ct scan of her chest area and xray then we went to see the Consultant at the hospital afterwards where she told us that my mum had lesions in her lungs, liver and bones so was cancer.
Since then my Mum has had further blood tests, a biopsy on her liver and a ct scan on her pelvic region. The Consultant said they may be able to offer chemo but they need to find out where it has originated from, since then we have heard nothing, and my mum is going down hill.
We have an appointment for a telephone consultation this Thursday to hopefully find out the results and to see where we can go from then.
I honestly don't know what to do.
I already have my Dad aswell with his cancer and he's had 5 strokes aswell so it is hard enough already as hes not the best.
All this coronavirus is not helping matters.
I don't know where to turn too.
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis - this must have been a big shock to you. The ongoing uncertainty along with dealing with the virus just makes things that much harder.
A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and many questions but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot.
This site is organised into various support groups so we do have lots of groups that are Cancer specific and also ones that are general Cancer experience groups.
You may also find our Carers only and see you have found them Family and friends groups to be a benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey
Posting in these groups will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are all going through at the moment.
Follow the links I've created, join the group(s) then introduce yourself to the group and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and you can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Can I also highly recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 9.00 to 5.00 but check the link but you may find the service very busy at the moment.
When you feel up to it, it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
((hugs))
