Hi,

I'm new to this so please bear with me.

Yesterday my very close friend had lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy surgery.

Shes home now recovering I'm wondering do I need to self isolate I'm worried I could bring a bug into the house.

Thank you for any advice given

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear that your friend has recently had a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy. I'm presuming that this is for breast cancer.

I'm not sure from your message about self-isolating whether you live with your friend or not. If you live with her then can I suggest that you join and post your question in the breast cancer group as there will be others there who will have recently had ops and can tell you what people living with them are doing.

If you don't live with your friend you can't currently visit her, as households cannot mix, so you wouldn't need to self-isolate unless you have other reasons to do so. This link will take you to the government advice on whether you can visit people.

You may find this information from Macmillan about cancer and coronavirus useful.
