I am worried to attend breast screening tomorrow due to Covid in the hospital.

I went to my GP and they said they couldn't feel anything, but wanted a screening to be sure. I'm 30 years old and pregnant. I really don't know what to do. I feel like I'm choosing between screening and getting covid and I need to think of baby too.

They are taking so many precautions at the hospitals. They are so quiet as most don't allow visitors , even with people attending outpatient appointments.

  • Hello Jossie

like Mommy3 has said, the unit you will be attending will currently be on their own version of a lockdown.

my unit 2 weeks ago only allowed the named patient in , spacing between others was put in place and appointments well staggered.

Last Friday I went to have my Hickman line removed, and the hospital I attended for this a cancer unit, was like a si fi film...totally organised safe and meticulously clean and hygiene focused.

please go for your scan, which is important to do, and focus on that first the hospital have planned well in advance to keep all people attending safe..

    best wishes

  • Hi you have received some great advise and I agree that you do need to go - hospitals clinics are more safe now than I have ever seen them due to the control of all the random visiting who did not see the need to stay away with a little cold and those who never washed their hands.

You do need to attend, if you don’t your anxiety will just get worse.

Talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot so can I highlight our very supportive Breast cancer Group.

Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group then introduce yourself to the group and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and you can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    All the best.

    Hi all

Thank you so much for your support.

I attended my screening today- 2 hours I was in hospital for. Came back all ok thankfully.

I am very concerned about covid exposure but think I made the right decision to go x

  • Well done you, try not to over stress yourself.... the main thing you can control in this life’s journey is the battle that rages between our ears all the rest you have to leave to the medics ((hugs))
