Hi everyone I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia off work now for social isolation getting it very hard
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your diagnosis - this must have been a big shock to you.
A blood cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and many questions but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot so can I highlight our very supportive Chronic myeloid leukaemia Group helpful.
Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.
Follow the link I've created, join the group then introduce yourself to the group and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and you can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
I was diagnosed wit a rare type of blood cancer over 20 years ago and as I had to have two Stem Cell Transplants I totally understand isolation so 12 weeks for me is not as bad as a total of 18-20 months.
Go over and set up a post and I am sure folks will come along and help you out.
You may want to put some information in your profile as this can help a lot. Click here to see how to add details as this helps everyone to see a little about you and how best to reply to you.
((HUGS)) from a safe distance.
Thank you for your message it's very hard and you stay safe to
Yes it is hard but you do need to look at this from different prospective - Isolation now will bring you out the other end - its short teem pain for long term health.
Do join the group and post as you will connect with others.
It is all about prospective
Yes your right there it's getting to except it's the hardest bit
How long have you been on your cancer journey?
Hi there over 8yrs havent been off work that was 2yrs ago..its hard at moment when your physical can work and cant with this virus wat is going around that's the hardest bit
I am into my 20th year with my type of blood cancer, so we have developed a mind set that deals with each day as it comes, having been through some very hard treatment we do take each day as it comes and we are happy in the knowledge that the sun does rise every day and from that we build our day.
Doing things to keep your mind occupied, we have a small back garden that we go out and do some exercises, catch up with old friends on the phone or on line, read lots of books, use Audible for books and we stay away from the news - there is no point in feed anxiety.
((hugs))
Into 20th year me ranting on about my 8yrs do you work ?
You can see my story if you hit Thehighlander.
No. I don't work now. Diagnosed when I was going 44 (1999) and basically lived and worked as though I had the worst skin condition ever (Rare Skin Lymphoma) but by the time I was 55 I had enough and took early retirement from teaching and a few years later it all kicked off at the end of 2013.
It is a long story but have now been in remission for 3 1/2 years from a condition I was told back in 1999 was incurable and I would never see remission from - there is always hope and a way through regardless of what comes up against us.
That's terrible I feel for you .. my way off thinking when I am out looking after the elderly people it lifts my mind and your seeing them and chatting to them when your at home not able to do that it's very hard ... I really shouldn't think like that when you see other people with different health issues your right there make as most out off every day that's comes ..wee don't know wats round the corner ..it was lovely chatting you away here to get few things done you take care keep in touch ((hugs))
