My Dad, who lives in Scotland, has bladder cancer and I live abroad. He was due to get his 1st treatment with BCG tomorrow - even did the urine sample yesterday - but got an automated message today at 5pm (GMT) saying it's now going to be rescheduled for 3 months time. Can this be right? I thought the Scottish Government said that cancer treatments would continue during COVID-19. I'm so worried about him. He already has advanced RA and COPD. He is 69 years old. Anyone have any insight to these cancellations...policies...?
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis - this must have been a big shock to you.
I live in Inverness and during these unpredictable times things said today are changing tomorrow, actually priorities are changing by the minute in the NHS. I am hearing 3 months delays everywhere in Scotland at the moment.
The only thing he/you can do is to try and contact his Consultant or GP and try and get some clear information
Talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot so can I highlight our very supportive Bladder cancer Group.
