My dad is currently on end of life pathway we are caring at home it's very hard. Weve had little support from district nurses only when we have rang them in a emergency and we havent seen a Macmillan nurse at home. Our family feel we have no support and finding it difficult at the moment as my dad is currently very poorly with pneumonia. Is this normal as when he was discharged from hospital we got told the support would be there.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your dad.

I have no first hand experience of what you are going though at the moment but my understanding is that your dad's care is now under his GP who refers your dad onto care systems like Macmillan etc so you do need to talk with them.

Can I recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link and you may also find our Ask an Expert section helpful.

You may find our Carers only, Family and friends and Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups a benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey and these people are dealing with day in day out.

Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group then introduce yourself to the group and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and you can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    All the very best.
