Hi all

This may seem trivial when I read the other posts but I am really worried about my hubby.

He has to have a colonoscopy for further investigations following a routine bowel screening test.

He has had a colonoscopy about 4 years ago and nothing was found but he does suffer from piles but he has some bleeding following after having a poo.  He has had this for a few weeks now.

He is taking it all in his stride but I am a worrier anyway.  He has an appointment to see a screening practitioner on Monday.  I feel for him having to go through the colonoscopy and having to have the bowel prep.  He isnt too bothered about that or the colonoscopy.

I am dreading it and am getting really worried about the outcome.  I know it is daft and that I should worry when there is something to worry about but can't stop thinking about the what ifs

  • Hi Angie @ and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your husbands ongoing investigations.

Cancer tests can bring a lot of stress, confusion and many questions but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot so can I first highlight our very supportive Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer group.

Posting in this group will open up your concerns to a wider group of people who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Follow the link I've created, join the group then introduce yourself to the group and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and you can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

You may also find our Carers only, and Family and friends groups a benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.

Can I also highly recommend our various Macmillan Support Line Services - you can call them free on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link and you may also find our Ask an Expert section helpful.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Talking to people face to face can help a lot so check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing.

    All the very best.
