Hello
I'm new here. I have stage 4 ovarian cancer and am between cycles 1 and 2 of chemo. Paclitaxel and Carboplatin.
My hair has started to fall out and my scalp is very very sore. Am thinking to shave it off today...but worried about the soreness. Any tips or advice please?
Thanks

Hi Wychwoman
I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer almost two years ago - you can read my profile by clicking on my name.
I have lost my hair twice through Chemotherapy and the first time i was on exactly the same chemo drugs as you. For me it took 15 days for my hair to start falling out. I also experienced tingling and soreness on my head which was the chemo affecting the nerve endings. The soreness i can only describe as a feeling like a band tied too tightly around my hair which leaves my head sore when it is pulled out. I actually found it more distressing my hair falling out than my friend shaving my hair off which, quite frankly was a blessed relief.
You will be relieved to know that the soreness does ease and i found once my hair was shaved off it reduced it quickly initially as well. Also, i found baby shampoo, all in one shower gel's and creams best to use as no harsh chemicals.
Hope this helps and do let us know how you get on.
A very warm welcome.
