Any advice is more than welcome.

  • Hi Karen and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your dad has recently been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer which has spread. It must be a very hard time for all the family and it's not surprising how you feel.

The community is divided up into groups where you can ask questions and get support. I see that you have already found and joined the oesophagus cancer group and posting there will enable you to ask questions about treatment, etc and share the experiences of others who have this type of cancer.

You might also like to join the family and friends groups where you can discuss your worries and emotions and give and receive support from others who have a family member coping with cancer.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
