I have been taking Tamoxifen for about a year now but have not been using pessaries and wonder if anyone knows how long it would take for my natural lubrication to come back and my atrophic tissues to repair themselves after stopping this medication.  I gather I may be asked to stop taking it some time before having reconstructive surgery.  Also how can I tell if my atrophic tissues have repaired themselves without having sex?  Is getting my natural lubrication back an indication?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

As I think that Tamoxifen is used in the treatment of breast cancer, could I suggest that you join and post your question in the breast cancer group as I'm sure the very knowledgeable people over there will be able to tell you about their experiences.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
