My husband has stage 4 colorectal cancer and is receiving palliative care. We are finding things extremely tough and we’re told last week that after shrinking in his liver and lungs that it is again growing in his liver. With all that is going on I feel really guilty for some of the thoughts I have at times which can be totally stupid but do make me annoyed for example he never never asks me if I want a cup of tea or if he leaves the room if there’s anything he can get me while he’s up....why should he bless him with what he’s going through.... I feel really awful for thinking these thoughts!

Do you get any other carers with similar thoughts, is this a normal thing people go through?!!!

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm really sorry to hear how you're feeling at the moment. It must be an incredibly tough time for you right now.

I see that you have already found and joined the carers group and I'm sure if you post there you'll get lots of support from others who will understand how you feel.

To get back to the group just click on the link I've created and you can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you feel up to it, it would be really useful if could pop something about your husband's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Sending a supportive (((hug)))
