Hi everyone my closest friend who has also been my nurse carer and with me 10 hours a day for 16 years has just been fishy with lung cancer. We are a team and we have an amazing bond and she is the closest person to me in my life!! She had a chest infection over Christmas and they did a scan to check that it wasn’t pneumonia and found a shadow as u guys must know the last 2 weeks she has been bombarded with tests cameras biopsy’s etc - I have been trying to be positive for her but she told me that she has been told it’s not curable but treatable but she doesn’t want to go down the treatment root! It’s all a bit of a shock as she is very healthy still works and feels great!! and I think it’s worse for her as her baby brother died from king cancer 4 months after finding out and she has looked after so many people with cancer!! It’s so hard to see someone I love who looks so fit and healthy now in absolute bits and so scared!! I’m so scared for her and I just feel so helpless I wish I cd rest her mind but it feels like wrecking ball has just knocked her down. I’m so scared for her!! She just keeps saying she wish she had never been told!! Today she told me that she thinks the dr was talking about 2 years but she can’t remember whether he was saying how long she has etc. No one has mentioned surgery so I think it must be quite progressed I just feel completely she’ll shocked and want to be here for her I’m just so lost she is the closest person in my life and I just want to take all this heartache away from her!! Any advice wd be great thanks for listening guys
Good morning and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your dear friend.

I see that you have put up a post in our great Friends and Family group - good starts.
A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and many questions on everyone but when you are talking about supporting someone with Incurable Cancer then talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot.
Can I direct you to this link to our very supportive Supporting someone with incurable cancer group as this will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.
Just follow the link I have created then hit the ‘Join This Group’ tab just under the main group name, then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your very own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group and ask your questions.
You and your friend may find our various Macmillan Support Line Services to be helpful - call them on 0808 808 00 00 This free service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.
We also have our ‘Ask an Expert’. section where you can post questions to our mostly Volunteer Experts but please allow 2 working days to get a reply.
Our Online Information and Support Section is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.
Talking to people face to face can help a lot so you and your friend may want to check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing.
When you feel up to it try putting some information in your profile. This really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself.
