    Hi Judy  /

Sorry to see you joining us here, but you have found yourself in a good place to be at a tough time.

There are several ladies with Spinal mets who have joined the Secondary Breast Cancer Group here (link) If you click the join this group button under the title when the page opens us you can start a new discussion asking about this and any treatment plans you have been offered.

It may be helpful to you to also join the very active (and friendly) Breast Group here. Most secondary ladies are members of both.

There are several bone strengthening meds that can be given to help reduce the risk of compression and fractures.

Has this been found after already having breast cancer treatment, or is this all new to you ?

Hope this is of some help for now, G n' J

  • Hi. No I was to near to my 5 years. Was diagnosed in Oct 2015 where I had a couple of tumours removed from one breast, some radiotherapy and tamoxifen but no chemo so was a little shocked when I was rushed into hospital with a suspected back fracture. Had suffered a fracture in the top of my spine  which has now been diagnosed as secondary or mets.

    Hi Judy  /

You would like to think that after 5 years of looking over your shoulder things were going well :-/   No wonder that news came as a shock.

The threat of mets further down the line is something everyone here has concerns with. J was diagnosed with HER2+ BC in 2012 and they threw everything at it but even now still gets those twingy 'what if' days.

I hope you aren't on a guilt trip for not questioning their no chemo decision - Probably happy to avoid that particular bullet at the time.

Have you had any treatment to your spine to repair /strengthen it, or is that to come ?

    Take care, G n' J

  • No Neorolgy decided not to. Radio starts next.week. along with bone strengthening drugs and hormone drugs. My sister who is 4.years younger, was diagnosed last September and has just had her 5th of 8 chemo done. Trying to keep her spirits up as.they have thrown everything at her so hoping it will work.  I never knew about mets.as they told.me I had just had a brush with cancer and they saw no reason that it would comeback. At that time there was no history of breast or any other cancer in my family.
