Hi guys. Just a bit concerned as in the last couple of weeks i have developed about 6 lumps on my left shin went to the doctor she said to come back in about 3/4 weeks so I will go back in a couple of weeks to see if they have grown I wouldn't say the lumps they have but there's now another on my left shin and I also have 1 now in my right shin. They are skin coloured no bruising or anything have the odd pains in my legs just wanted to know if anyone else has had anything similar?

Thanks

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us.

These bodies we have to live in can give us so much problems at times. We are not medically trained and can only look at our own medical journeys so from my long experience this could be nothing to worry about but at the same time you need answers.

I have a rare type of skin Lymphoma so lumps and bumps are part of the gift.... but I am cancer free at the moment but still have lumps and bumps - it's what the body does depending on bugs and infections.

You do need to continue to work with your GP to get to the bottom of this....... you most likely have consulted Dr Google and you will find many of reasons for the lumps including cancer.

But its always best to work with the facts and move forward with clear information.

No much help I am afraid but having been on my cancer journey for 20 years the best place for answers is with a professional.

You may find our various Macmillan Support Line Services to be helpful - call them on 0808 808 00 00 This free service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information and Clinical Information mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.

We also have our ‘Ask an Expert’. section where you can post questions to our mostly Volunteer Experts but please allow 2 working days to get a reply.

    All the very best.

Thanks for your reply. I am definitely going  back she said due to the size of them they can be felt easily and seen when I look at my shins but she said they needed to be bigger for an ultrasound I am going to go back to see another doctor and see what their opinion is of them. Just so worrying.

Thanks for taking the time to reply I hope you are well.

  • Yes, very worrying. They won't normally ultrasound small surface lumps until they are larger - think grape size, but if they are concerned that can move this forward quicker.

I have had one lump on my neck and on my arm for the past 4 years that are small grape sized, but due to my history they have been checked and they are not an issue.

The main thing I have learned in my 20 years cancer journey is all the worry in the world won't actually change what a medical professional will find...... but stress can actually make you feel more sick than you actually are.

I have a chest infection thing going on just now........ but half the UK has the same chest thing going on........ I could quickly go down the rabbit trail and overthink all this but it position my mind to fight that battle between my ears......... so work with your GP team and look for a positive way forward.

I am doing very well thank you, now over 4 years past my last main treatments and now just over 3 years in remission...... you can see some of the Community members stories by hitting their Community names but a strong cup of coffee may be needed.

We are always around to listen and support.
