Hi all

just found this site. My dad well step dad has been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophageal which has spread to the lungs and liver. He had 3 courses of chemo which haven’t worked and the cancer has grown. Today he finally admitted he needs 24 hour care. Where do I go? Who can I contact. His local hospice can’t help him till Monday and I have to go home tomorrow over 230 miles away.
I just don’t know what to do for the best for him. I guess we will have to wait till Monday but I’m worried about leaving him on his own.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your step dad.

You may want to call our Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00 as a starting point as they will be able to help out with some suggestions.

I see you have joined our Friends and Family group and you may also want join our very supportive Supporting Someone with Incurable Cancer group as this will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Just follow the links I have created then hit the ‘Join This Group’ tab just under the main group name, then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your very own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group and ask your questions.

    All the very best.
