What are the pros and cons when you're nearly 87?
My Husband had a SCC excised from the top of his head in October and now they want him to have a two week ( every day) course of radiotherapy in January. But his immune system is already vulnerable.
Hello and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear of what your husband has been through. I am not familiar with this type of cancer, but can I suggest you post your concerns in the Head and Neck group . There you will find others with experience of this treatment and will be able to advise.. Click the highlighted link to get to the group and start a new discussion there. One thing I do know is that age does not come in to it when treatment decisions are made, but rather the fitness to cope. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
Hi and a second welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that after having a SCC removed from his head in October your husband now has to make a decision about whether to have radiotherapy or not.
I have had melanoma removed but, as radiotherapy is very rarely used as treatment for that type of skin cancer, I don't have any experiences to share with you.
Could I recommend that you join us over in the skin cancer group where you could post your question. I can't remember if there are any people there who have had radiotherapy for SCC but there may well be.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post your question after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
You may find this information about radiotherapy treatment for skin cancer from BAD (British Association of Dermatologists) useful.
I hope to see you over there

Hi Latchbrook and thank you for your response.
I think I have joined the skin cancer group. I should have posted my question there and will do that now. Just finding my way around the site:)
That second link you provided also looks really useful.
Thank you for that too.
