Hi

Well this is a group I never expected to be part of, diagnosed with cancer in uterus and cervix 20.12.19...... knocked for six.

Had CT scan today and MRI booked for Friday 27th back to see consultant 06:01:20 proposed date for radical hysterectomy on 14:01:20.

Two issues how on earth do I wait until 6th for my scan results it’s an horrendous thought waiting until then.

Secondly any advice when to tell my adult children we lost my dad suddenly in July so this is going to hit them hard particularly my daughter. Obviously I am waiting until after Xmas but just don’t know if it’s to tell them nearer the surgery or sooner so they have more time.

Dear I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis, you will be in a state of shock at the moment which is totally understandable. Christmas and New Years is the worst time to be waiting for results of tests so I sympathise with your anxiety. It sounds as though you have been given a solid treatment plan which should put your mind at ease somewhat. I have read that this is a highly treatable cancer with good outcomes so you have every reason to be optimistic. As for telling your adult children, I think it’s important to have all the facts at your fingertips so that you can balance the bad news you have cancer and need a operation with the fact that you will be receiving treatment that has a good rate of success. People always fear the worse when they hear the C word but with advances in treatment this is not universal.

  • Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us.

Some great advice from Jane and as you have joined our very supportive Cervical cancer group starting a post in this group will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Just follow the green link I have created then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your very own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group and ask your questions.

    All the best.
