Hi my mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in January 2018 and sadly died in April 2018. My mum was an amazing lady, everybody's friend who always tried to see the best in people. Me and mum were very close and her death has left me feeling absolutely devastated, alone and like I have lost my best friend. She had cancer 3 times in her life, Breast, Cervical and finally lung cancer. The 2 other times treatment she received and her determination to not leave her family, especially her children,  meant thankfully she beat it,the 3rd time sadly she didn't. I've joined this community to get support from people who's lives have been affected by cancer and see if I can get involved with something in my community so, just like my mum anyone who is living with or affected by this horrible disease does not have to do it alone. I feel this will help me move on better and of course I do it in memory of the best, kindest woman I have ever had the good fortune to meet

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your mum passed away last year. She sounds like a very determined lady and it's great that you want to contribute to your local community in her memory. You could have a look at this information from Macmillan on ways to support people with cancer and see if anything there looks like something you'd want to get involved with.

It's understandable that you want to receive support as well so can I recommend that you join the bereaved family and friends group where you can share your feelings as well as get and receive support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
