Hi my mum inlaw has, bowel cancer upper and lower bowel. Also she has alzheimer's, yesterday and today she has became very alert, to what's going on around her, even to the point she can remember how to make a cup of tea, and even her pass code to her bank.she been eating ok and drinking due to I do this for her, but very different yesterday, she said she wasn't sure what she wanted for dinner, and was up all night thinking about it, and then when she made her mind up, I cooked for her, she doesnt really go to bed, only 2/3 a night if I'm luckly, she also said mind my pet duck.which of course I dont have a pet duck.she was making cups of tea all night.i do 95% of mum inlaw care, so I see a lot of changes, I heard and seen rallying as I did my mum and dads end of life care just last year. But this is new to me and I'm the one left confused. Any advice would be grateful received.

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I haven't been in your position, so don't have any experiences to share with you, but I think if you join and post your question in the carers only group you may find others who have experienced something similar.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then post your question after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
