    Hi

I am so sorry you’re going through this scary time - it’s completely natural to be terrified and you’ve come to the right place for reassurance.

Your consultant is quite right that a minority of women with complex atypical hyperplasia are found to have womb cancer when the pathologist gets a chance to look at the cells under a microscope after surgery. But most don’t. For those who do end up with a cancer diagnosis, the vast majority are completely cured with a hysterectomy. That’s what you need to hang on to. Even if you’re unlucky and you do have cancer, the chances are that come Tuesday you’ll be able to say “I had cancer but now it’s gone”.

I can recommend that you join the womb cancer group where you’ll find a terrific group of women who will share their experiences of going through a total hysterectomy and hold your hand through the weeks to come. Just click this link, follow the instructions to join and start a discussion. Just copy and paste what you’ve written here if it feels too hard to start again with something new.

I really hope you’re one of the 70% of women who don’t have cancer. I hope your op goes well and that you meet skilful doctors and kind nurses.

    xx
