Hello Friends .. to be honest I thought this would be the last place I would end up .. in August this year I felt there was a problem with my right testicle.. within 2 weeks of flat out rushing, it was now living in a jar in Bristol and I was one man down ..
it was really scary bears but I thought that was it .. all I had to do was to get checked out each month but generally thinking that would be a walk in the park .. and hives me a couple of afternoons offeach month ...
Well on Wednesday I was told it's back.. they had found two different types of cancer .. seminola and non-seminola (sorry I have a dark sense of humour) the nasty one had started to grow back pretty nasty ... I have been told I have to start chemotherapy in the next couple of week and freeze some sperm..
I'm now in so much pain .. like I need massive a poo (chance would be a fine thing think Dark Grey Clay) from the middle of my belly to my spine across my right hand side .. I can not get comfortable and just cant function...
Now the important stuff ...
Is the pain Cancer or constipation?
Does Cancer hurt?
Do you start to feel better and gradually get better?
I'm scared big time because it's just come on so quickly ...
Any help would be amazing, also does anyone else get annoyed when their partners say "I Know"
I have a pain, I think it's the cancer ,"I know"
I feel like I've been kicked in the nuts by a donkey "I Know"
I feel like now I know the cancer is back I can feel where it is ,"I Know"
Arrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh my tolerance levels are nil
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community and I promise I won't say 'I know'
I'm sorry to hear how much pain you're in at the moment and it's natural to worry that it's the cancer that is causing this. Of course these things always happen at the weekend when there's no access to your GP so could I suggest that you contact NHS 111 and they can give you advice.
Alternatively you could ring the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000. It's free to call and you can chat to an experienced cancer nurse anytime between 8am and 8pm.
This site is organised into cancer specific groups so if you join the testicular cancer group you can then ask questions, share experiences and get support with your cancer from others who have been through what you're going through.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Often other people don't know what to say so your partner may think that by saying 'I know' they're making you feel less anxious but it doesn't always help. You could show them this page from Macmillan called 'someone I know has cancer' as it talks about ways to help and things to avoid saying. Alternatively, if you think this might provoke an argument you could take a look at it yourself and perhaps gently explain why hearing certain phrases are not helpful.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
I hope you manage to sort this pain out quickly.
x
