So I was told today by the consultant surgeon that I have breast cancer. My mammogram and ultrasound were clear but she decided to do biopsies just to be extra sure and it’s just as well that she did. I’m in shock. I’m 38 with a 3 and a 6 year old and I’m terrified I’m going to die and leave them. I’ve to wait for an mri to check how big it is and if it’s in any other areas then they will plan treatment and surgery. I’m scared and anxious.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community although I'm sorry you've had to come and find us.

Although I wasn't diagnosed with the same type of cancer as you I can remember only too well how shocked I felt when told I had cancer.

Could I suggest you join the breast cancer group as you'll finds lots of people there who will be willing to share their experiences with you and give you support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post your question after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Sending a supportive (((hug)))

  • Hi nic8

this is a quick reply but I will chat later. I want you to know we’re all here. Read my profile friend request if you like but let’s chat more. I had exactly the same feelings. I’ve just had a mastectomy two weeks ago.

The waiting is worst but take comfort from how thorough they have been and if nothing showing on scans then maybe it’s not that big? But regardless of size and quantities they are on it. They are amazing.

Deep breath. Hope we chat son. Support is invaluable

    lots of love xxxx
