I was referred to dermatology as I had a grape sized lump on my scalp which is itchy and sore all at the same time and the surrounding area a bit scaly . Expecting them to say oh yes we can take that off just like Dr pimple popper does . After consultant gave me a free haircut and a photo shoot of my head was shocked to see I have an area the size of a tennis ball red and scaly around my lump. Informed I have bcc and biopsy booked for 28th and then to see plastic surgeon for skin graft when removed.
I know that once its removed I will be fine but wasnt expecting to feel so down and emotional about it.
Any suggestions on how to deal.with the itching it drives me crazy .
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear that you have BCC.
Although I did not have skin cancer I do understand some of the issues you are facing as I had a very rare skin Lymphoma.
Itching can indeed be bad, I always had a small tube of skin cream so when an itch started I would plaster some on the areas and this helped to calm things down. Over my many years I got various types prescribed by my Dermatologist, so worth talking with the team at the clinic or your GP. The main one that worked for me was Hydromol.
A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and questions on but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot.
