Hi all,I have been diagnosed with esophageal cancer & am overwhelmed by the amount information I am being given, everything seems to be happening really fast (which is a good thing I'm guessing...) I just wanted to know what to expect, have been told by my consultant that the best course of action is chemo then an oesophagectomy to remove the tumour. I'm panicking a bit about it all.

    Hi

I am really sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I’m not surprised you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the information. Yes it’s good that things are happening fast but at the same time but can leave you feeling like your feet haven’t touched the ground.

It can really help to chat with other people who have been through the same experience as you. I suggest you join our gullet cancer group. The folks there will be able to tell you all about their experiences of having chemotherapy, what it was like and how they coped. There’s nothing quite like here in the first hand experiences of People who have been there and done that.

I wish you all the best
