Hello everyone, I’m the lucky one or am I? I’m watching my dad die and I’m heartbroken. He was diagnosed September 2nd, by the third he was told that it is very aggressive and invasive. A few days later he was told surgery was out of the question and even having chemotherapy he would die. Everything is progressing so quick, he can’t chew or swallow and has terrible earache (guessing this is the cancer eating away). Today he started the Oramorph. My way of coping is knowing everything, I need to know what timespan he has but no one can help. Now just watched Stand Up To Cancer Googlebox and it’s set me off. Sorry to vent, just sad. X
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear about your dad and it's perfectly normal to want to know how long he has left. Unfortunately, it's something that doctors find very difficult to answer because everyone reacts differently to their cancer.
I see that you have found and posted in the family and friends group and, if your dad has been told that his cancer is incurable, you might also like to join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group where you can share your emotions as well as discuss practical issues.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself, or post a question, after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Sending a supportive ((hug))
