Hello, I'm new on this site and just thought to introduce myself. I'm Ana, 24, diagnosed with glioblastoma on 27th of August, just started with radiotherapy and chemo this Monday. The reason why I joined this site is to find some comfort.

I live alone and has always dealt with things on my own, but this disease has shown me the whole new level of loneliness. I go through days just by doing things that have to be done while I truly struggle to accept all of this.

I know there are unfortunately many of people out there so lost as I am, but you are all heros in my eyes. Best wishes to all Star

Hi Ana, I am so sorry to hear this and I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you. You are such a strong person to be going through this on your own! I am sure that many people want to help you and be there for you, so please don't be afraid to reach out for a helping hand if you need one.

    Hugs,

    Jess

  • Hi Ana  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us.

A cancer diagnosis can be very confusing and indeed isolating. I am so sorry to hear that you are facing this journey on your own but we have places for you to talk with people who are on the same journey and this can help a lot.

Can I direct you to this link to our Glioblastoma multiforme group as this will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Just follow the link above, hitting ‘Join the Group’ tab just under the main group name, then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group - you could just copy an paste what you have in this first post.

You may find our various Macmillan Support Line Services to be helpful - call them on 0808 808 00 00This free service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Talking to people face to face can help a lot so check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Supportin your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing.

When you feel up to it try putting some information in your profile. This really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. Just click on YOUR username, select 'Edit Profile'. Put as much or as little in your profile and you can amend it at any time - you can see members profiles by hitting our forum names.

    All the very best ((hugs))
