Hi I’m new to this and only found out lst week I have cervical cancer that’s been spread from the hpv virus following a colposcopy .. I can’t help but blame myself for getting to this as I left it until 28 to have my cervical screaning done as I was too worried to go at 25 ( even tho now I don’t understand what I was worried about) I just feel in a daze and want to just stay at home , I have 3 young children and no idea how or when to try to explain to them . I’m also awaiting other appointments and don’t feel fully sure what’s going on at this stage right now . I came on here hoping to chat to others in similar positions
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis but there's no point in blaming yourself for what you did or didn't do in the past. We've all been there but it doesn't change anything, so try to just focus on now.
I can see from your activity that you've joined the cervical cancer group and I'm sure if you post there you'll get the benefit of shared experiences and support from the other ladies over there. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can introduce yourself by clicking on 'start a discussion' or join in with existing posts by selecting 'reply'.
I don't know how old your children are but Macmillan produce this information on talking to children about cancer which you might find helpful.
