hi. My husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the end of June. Within a week he had a massive operation to have all the disease removed. He recovered well but has just started intensive chemo to prolong the cancer returning.

i am taking each day as it comes, staying positive for him but inside I am devastated! Having a couple of bad days and not wanting to upset family and friends who are invested in him staying well. Getting up and going to work but just want to hide in the corner and cry!

  • Hi and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear  your husband has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, but good to know he is recovering from his operation. We know that cancer does not just affect the person involved but has far reaching effects on loved ones. The emotional side of things can be very difficult. We have a very supportive group here you may like to join Family and Friends . There you will find others in similar situations to yourself looking after loved ones. Sometimes it is difficult to let our loved ones know how we are feeling and so this is a great place to share with others who understand. Click the link to get to the group and you can then start a new discussion there. It does help to talk. As your husband is now on chemo, he will probably be getting more and more tired with the treatment and this puts extra pressure on you. Make sure you take time out to look after yourself. Any problems navigating the site, hit the reply button below to ask. There is usually always someone here. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
