There isn't anything in particular I wanted to discuss at this moment but have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, I live alone and also live remote (on top of the hills ).
My Picc line is to be inserted on Thur 19th Oct with Chemo starting the following monday so I was looking around the internet looking for information on what to expect etc (as I'm sure many of you did in the beginning) and ended up here.
I would like to thank you for all the good work and support that you all provide, especially the help and kind words you give to each other x
Hi Lancashire Lassie n welcome to the club nobody really wants to join. I c you've already joined the Breast cancer group., How about also adding a bit to your profile, so u don't have to keep repeating yourself?
You say you've looked on the internet, but some of that info is now out of date - far better in future to ask the group members or the helpline on 0808 808 0000, 8am to 8pm 7 days/ week. At least u found Macmillan from Googling lol
Hi
Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join :-/
You will appreciate the PICC Line once you start, so good choice box ticked.
See you have already joined the very active (and friendly) Breast Group... Within that there is a regular monthly chemo chat discussion.
You can find the September Chemo Chat discussion clicking the coloured text link.
If you just reply to any of the messages on the chemo chat thread copying in your above text you will soon get some support and info to help you. Note there is a Chemo Tips link in the very first message, but don't be put off by all the side effects mentioned most only suffer from a couple of the more common ones but everyone finds it treats them slightly differently.
If you know do mention the names of the chemotherapy drugs regime you will be having as there are a few variations
There are a few items you should buy before you start which you will soon get to find out about.
Hope this is of some help for now, take care, G n' J
Hi, Im having EC Chemo (epirubicin-cyclophosphamide) 3 sessions over 9 week then (so much info to take in so I apologise if got this wrong) Paclitaxel every week for 12 week. I know the cancer is 3.2cm and unable to operate. I have a large open wound on my right breast where the cancer has eaten away and deformed it also it is in my lymph nodes where I have a very uncomfortable lump under my right arm. On Thursday next week along with the Picc line inserting I'm also going to be shown how to inject in my stomach (which I think would be for hormone treatment). Hope this info helps as any feedback is greatly appreciated x
I have just replied regarding treatment etc so hope this will help with any feedback and I will put more info on my profile as soon as I can
Evening
Sorry for not getting back to you earlier - Been assembling a wooden summerhouse ouch!
So you are having chemo prior to surgery (Neoadjuvant) to shrink things down first then.
Macmillan has an info page about EC Chemo (Link) Don't be worried about all the side effects listed most only have a couple or so. Also just concentrate on the EC for now it will be a while before you need to fill your head with Paclitaxel info.
Do start a new discussion / introductory message into the Breast Group you joined, the ladies there are great and will make you feel at ease.
Hope you have a pleasant weekend even with this rubbish diagnosis.
Hugs, G n' J
