I had papillary thyroid cancer just over a year ago.... this was removed and needed no further treatment. I've now found a lump on my breast and whilst I'm thinking I should get it checked I'm worried it will be nothing and made to feel stupid (I found another lump in my neck b4 xmas and when I went to get checked the doctor made feel like I'd wasted there time and I was over reacting). I dont want to waste doctors time is there any other symptoms I should be looking for b4 I get checked?
Hi Annabelle,
Dont let a dismissive doctor put you off getting things checked out, I've been to get about ten things checked since my womb cancer two years ago, they have all been clear but I'm glad I checked them anyway (mole checks, MRI scan, X-ray, mini colonoscopy, etc), I had symptoms so they warranted being checked out. I also had tests that picked up an underactive thyroid so not all my worries were unfounded. I had a lump in my belly that they said is a fatty lump too, I really stressed about that as it was quite near my hysterectomy scar.
You could ask for another doctor if you know if one in your practice who is a bit more approachable, but it's always best getting these things checked out and a good doctor would reassure you of that.
