hi. Diagnosed with bladder cancer. Had TURBT procedure and MMC  treatment. Now recovering at home. Starting to find my way. Just turned 39 and being off work is frustrating. Not yet sure what I am looking for on here.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the community. I am from the bladder group and I see you have joined us there. Feel free to introduce yourself to the group. There are many of us there with a wide range of experiences. Ask any questions you like or just have a chat with others who know what you are going through. Best wishes.

Thanks Rily. Diagnosed last month. I had a TURBT and mytomicin last week and currently recovering at home. I just turned 39 (not the best birthday present). I normally have a very active lifestyle and a bit of a workaholic. Struggling to cope with sitting at home doing very little. Seeing consultant next on 17th september and hoping to slowly return to my physical activities shortly after. Signed off from work for 2 weeks and was contemplating when I can return to work.

  • Hi . It is not recommended to do anything strenuous for at least 2 weeks and the healing process can take up to 6 weeks depending on how much they have cut away. When they did the TURBT they would have taken a biopsy and this determines what further treatment, if any is needed. When you see the consultant, you should be given a stage and grade. At around the 2 week mark, you may notice you are passing some blood or clots. This is the scab breaking away and is normal. It can be a worry if you are not expecting it. In the meantime, you need to keep drinking water regularly to clear the debris out and help prevent infection. Best wishes.
