Hi there , I’m new to the group and new to cancer! My partner was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with extranodal NK/Tcell lymphoma nasal type , he hadn’t been at all unwell and only saw his GP as he had an abscess in his nose . He has to have his chemo as an inpatient and has been in for 4 weeks now , I just am so shocked by it all and find when I’m alone I cry , please tell me these feelings will go away and I will have some normality back to my usually sunny disposition !! My darling hubby is so brave and I’m so proud of him , why can’t I be as strong as him x

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but always sorry to see folks finding is.

I am Mike  and I help out in our Lymphoma Forums. We have a number with NK/T Cell Lymphoma post in our forums so it would be good to try and connect you with them.

I was diagnosed with another rare type of T Cell Lymphoma over 20 years ago and I am still around doing well so be encouraged.

Yes, these feelings you are having are normal and will calm down, but it will take time. Don’t beat yourself up - a blood cancer journey can be hard work for all the family. But on the whole blood cancers are very treatable.

I do understand the challenges of being an inpatient as this was a big part of my treatment over the years. It is what it is and it is important to try and keep your focus on the greater good in all this, the goal that is being aimed at. Doing this help you not to be overcome by all the stuff that goes on during treatments.

Follow these links to our T-cell lymphomas and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma Forums where you will connect with people who understand the journey you are all on.

You can ask the folks questions about tests, treatments and what to expect during the months ahead.

Follow the links above and join the groups by hitting the ‘Join the Group’ tab just under the main group name and it is worth indicating how you want to receive email notifications when someone answers your posts.

Go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab just under the main group name and set up your own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group - you could just copy an paste what you have put in this first post.

When you feel up to it try putting some information in your profile. This really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. Just click on YOUR username, select 'Edit Profile'. Put as much or as little in your profile and you can amend it at any time - you can see members profiles by hitting our forum names.

I will keep an eye open for you ((hugs))

  • Hi Suesyng, I am sorry to hear that you are also going through this. My brother was diagnosed with exactly the same around 2 weeks ago. He has been very ill for a long time and due to Covid was unable to get a face to face appointment with GP for 5 months. They have told him he is stage 4, the family are devastated by this. Just wondering how soon your husband received treatment after formal diagnosis as it seems like we have been waiting forever? X x
