Four months ago, we discovered that my precious 61year old husband had a small tumour. We were on holiday at the time...
We we’re hopeful for the Whipple operation but discovered metastatic malignant neoplasm to thoracic vertebral column just before surgery was due to take place. This means that my husbands prospects of being alive in 1 or 2 years is massively reduced.
My husband has had radiotherapy and had just finished his 2nd dose of Gemcitabine (Gemzar) and Nab-paclitaxel (Abraxane).
Is there anyone here that has a similar diagnosis?
Hello Insideout. Welcome to the community, the place nobody really wants to be
Can I suggest you repost this in the Pancreatic cancer group? That way., you'll reach those in a similar situation to your husband. U might also join the Family and friends group to get support for yourself.
Also, do put a bit in your profile. It will save you having to repeat yourself and help others find those in the same boat
Hi and a second welcome to the online community
I can only begin to imagine how devastated you and your husband must have been to discover that his cancer had spread. However, treatments are advancing all the time and there are many people on this site who are well past their original prognosis, so don't give up hope.
I see that buttercup01 suggested a couple of groups for you to join but that you haven't joined them yet. I thought it might be easier for you if I give you a link to them. This is the link to the pancreatic cancer group where you could post your question asking if anyone has the same diagnosis as your husband.
Other groups that you might find useful to join are the secondary bone cancer group, where you can ask about treatment and share experiences with others, and also the carers only group. As it's name suggests this latter group is only for people who are caring for someone with cancer and is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions.
To join any or all of these groups click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself or post a question after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
As buttercup 01 mentioned, when you feel up to it it would be really useful if could pop something about your husband's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
